The Detroit Lions might not have any rings to their name as a franchise, but they've had quite the rotating door of legends over the last few decades. Players like Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders have graced the city with their play, and both are forever immortalized on Ford Field's "Pride of the Lions."

Sanders, particularly, is a mainstay for this Lions franchise. He's often seen sitting in the stands during big games as of late, and Monday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appears to be no different. Week 7 has brought Sanders out, and ESPN did a quick sideline interview with the legend.

Sanders took time to praise two other potentially legendary running backs in Lions lore that are actively helping push the teams' offense towards another postseason berth: Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

“I think it’s the best one-two punch in the business, today.”

Sanders gives huge praise to Gibbs, Montgomery ahead of Week 7 showdown against Buccaneers

Gibbs and Montgomery are scary to try and contain because they offer such distinctly different skill sets. Gibbs is the speedster of the duo, easily stopping and going to throw defenders off balance with ease when breaking away from the line of scrimmage. For Montgomery, it's his brute strength that often throws other defenses off. He's hard to bring down, and he can make you pay if you fail to stuff him early on.

Both backs have also broken plenty of records for the Lions, and they're far from being done. Both have scored a touchdown in the same game as one another 14 times in their time with the Lions, which ties an NFL record. They are religiously both rushing for 100 yards per game, adding an element to the Lions' offense that's hard to contain.

Sanders knows all about that. In his 10-year career, all spent with the Lions, he rushed for 15,269 yards and 99 touchdowns in 153 games played. He rushed for over 1,000 yards each year he was with Detroit, and he still holds the most rushing yards for a Lions running back in his career.

His praise for Gibbs and Montgomery, while potentially biased, comes from a place of understanding. Legend to legend (to legend), Sanders knows Detroit has quite the elite backfield providing assistance to Jared Goff.
