Bears' blocked field goal vs. Packers ruled clean after NFL review

After the league conducted an official review this week, the NFL has deemed a blocked kick that was the decisive play in the Green Bay Packers' 20-19 victory over the Chicago Bears as a clean play.

That's according to Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun Times.

The play came as the Bears were trailing late in last Sunday's loss to the Packers but were in position for a game-winning field goal.

Cairo Santos lined up for the 46-yard attempt but Packers defensive tackle Karl Brooks blocked it to secure the win for the Packers.

The Bears requested a review for the play after Brooks and defensive lineman T.J. Slaton made contact with Chicago long snapper Scott Daly on the play but neither was deemed a violation of the rules, which does not allow teams to have a player line up directly across from the long snapper.

The loss was tough for the Bears, who suffered their third straight loss after winning four of their first six games to start the season.

While the Bears couldn't pull off the win, they'll have another chance to get back into the NFC Wild Card race when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
