Luther Burden III has shown a lot of improvement in his game this season. He is on track to surpass his totals from 2025 and continues to receive praise from analysts, teammates and coaches. One of them is Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Press Taylor, who shared his thoughts on the wide receiver’s development.
Burden has appeared in only four of the team’s first seven games. However, he already has 23 receptions for 266 yards and one touchdown. The 22-year-old finished last season with 47 catches for 652 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games, including five starts.
Chicago will continue to rely heavily on him for his timely catches and vastly improved route running. The team has several capable wideouts, and Burden is emerging as one of Caleb Williams’ favorite targets.
Taylor addressed reporters on Saturday. He talked about what he has seen from Burden since the start of spring training, which he has applied in actual games.
“It’s been a gradual growth with these guys and understanding what we’re asking you to do in terms of preparation throughout the course of the week. Whether it’s in the meeting room and on the walkthroughs and practice as well. He carried that over the spring. He had a great spring in terms of the way he attacked things. It carried over into in the training camp when he was available for us as well.
“So I think you’re just seeing these guys that understand what’s required of them what it takes week in, week out to perform and how critical it is just continue to get better. No matter what’s going on, no matter how well you think you played Week 1, 2, 3. Whether your opportunities came or not, our guys just staying the course, putting their head down and continuing to trust the process and just work.”
Press Taylor on Luther Burden’s Progression:
“It’s been a gradual growth with these guys. It’s preparation in the meeting rooms, on the field, and practice as well. He has a great Spring. Our guys continue to put their heads down and they go to work.”
