The Chicago Bears played their last two games without Caleb Williams. However, they found a way to win both, with Case Keenum starting against the Philadelphia Eagles and Tyson Bagent versus the New York Jets. An update about the star quarterback was reported on Wednesday, leaving some of the team’s fans wary.
Williams sustained a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. He exited the game and did not return. The 24-year-old is considered week-to-week and has not practiced since.
Chicago named Bagent as the starter again for Sunday when it visits its rivals, the Green Bay Packers, at Lambeau Field. He finished last week’s 23-12 win with 25-of-34 completions for 268 yards against one interception.
ESPN’s Ian Rapoport reported that Williams could start practicing next week. It would a huge step to his return and how he performs will answer a lot of questions about his status and conditioning. Fans reacted to the potential development, with many expressing their desire for the Bears to err on the side of caution with his injury.

“If Caleb is ready, give him 1 more week just to make sure, but he needs to be back week 6 if he’s 100% , no more letting these backups get anymore shine
it’s ICE MAN TIME

“If we beat GB I say let him rest another week tbh. 3-0 in that stretch gives us plenty of room to let him fully heal and make sure he’s 110% healthy,” a reaction read.
“I’d keep him out for Atlanta too there dline is tuff rather have him come back home game vs patriots,” one fan said.
“A hamstring injury is brutal. You have to let it heal. With the way he plays he needs to relax,” posted another.
“Would be nice but our backups are capable just rest up and make sure you’re 100% man,” a comment read.

Sunday’s rivalry game is the first of a two-game road trip for a Chicago. The Bears will then face the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Arena on Oct. 18. A home fixture follows in Week 7 against the New England Patriots.
