With all eyes set to Detroit, the Chicago Bears are expected to get some reinforcements back in Week 2 heading into a pivotal early matchup with the Lions.
As anticipated, Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson will be making his 2025 debut in defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's system after missing Week 1 and all of training camp with a groin injury. And he's not the only defensive starter set to return.
Linebacker T.J. Edwards will be suiting up on Sunday after missing Monday night's game with a hamstring injury. Also returning on offense will be running back Roschon Johnson, who's been dealing with a foot injury since early August.

While the return of Johnson and Edwards is great news for the defense, the unit will still be without one starter for the second week in a row. The Bears have already ruled nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon out for Week 2's matchup due to a lingering hamstring injury.
Veteran defensive tackle Grady Jarrett will be listed as questionable as well going into the weekend after popping up ion the injury report with a knee injury. Jarrett did return to practice on Friday as a limited participant.
Johnson is easily going to be the biggest boost for the Bears going into this matchup. As a true lockdown corner, Johnson's presence is felt every time he steps onto the field.
"I'm very happy with him," head coach Ben Johnson said of Johnson. "He comes out, he's got his swagger to him, confidence, he's not afraid to talk a little bit. That's what I feel immediately is just the presence out there. When you watch the tape yesterday, he's very sticky."
This week especially will be the ideal matchup to have Johnson back in the fold going up against not only Amon-Ra St. Brown but Jameson Williams as well. With two top weapons to defend in the passing game, the Bears will likely be moving Johnson around quite a bit.
As for Edwards, we saw in Week 1 how important it is to have a strong linebacker core going up against the Lions' run game. Johnson and Allen have each stressed how elite of players Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery can be to defend against, yet the Green Bay Packers were able to hold them in check because of the play from Edgerrin Cooper and Quay Walker.
Having Edwards back on the field next to Tremaine Edmunds gives Chicago its top two linebackers to matchup with this offense and try to replicate a similar level of success against the run.
