Ben Johnson finally gets his first win as Chicago’s head coach at home, and it couldn’t have gone any better for the morale of himself, the team, Caleb Williams, and Chicago itself.
The Monsters of the Midway ended the game 31-14, finally putting the pieces together with the team’s talent and coaching to get the job done at home this Sunday.
Caleb Williams finished the game 19/28 with 298 yds, zero turnovers, and four passing TD to four different receivers: Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, Luther Burden III, and DJ Moore.
This game was also the first game in Williams’ career (sadly) where he was not sacked once. The offensive line stepped up and protected QB1.
The Bears’ Defense clobbered Dak Prescott and the Cowboys with two sacks, a stripped ball turnover, and three interceptions, two of them from LB Tremaine Edmunds.
After two weeks of ugly divisional losses, one win with that kind of gameplay is all that the Bears needed to jump back on track and get hungry for more wins.
Williams’ confidence was growing throughout the game, probably because his offensive line actually came through. Williams recorded zero rushing yards, meaning he finally felt comfortable in the pocket.
Sometimes it takes a few games and a few bad beatings to get a team to wake up. This week was definitely that game-changer—everything executed perfectly: offense, defense, and coaching.
Chicago faces the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday for another 3:25 pm game. It cannot be emphasized enough that this team needs to maintain this energy.
The Raiders got demolished by the Washington Commanders 41-24 without Jayden Daniels. Marcus Mariota, who seemed to be a written-off backup, got the job done for the team.
There is no backtracking from here on out. Another embarrassing loss takes miles off this production’s chance of a first win this season. This team needs to move forward full steam ahead.
Mentally, I need Chicago to maintain this momentum. The Raiders’ only hope on offense at the moment is Brock Bowers. Ashton Jeanty has underperformed, and there are several unproven players. I don’t care if people call it “an easy win,” it’s still a win. I believe this ignited the fire underneath them, enabling the entire team to gain confidence and dominate. Let’s see what the Bears can do next week in Fabulous Las Vegas.
