Bears place Pro Bowl safety Eddie Jackson on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Chicago Bears may have suffered a noteworthy loss during their bye week.

Chicago confirmed on Monday that it placed Pro Bowl safety Eddie Jackson on the reserve/COVID-19 list. As of late Monday afternoon, it was unclear if Jackson tested positive for the coronavirus or is entering the list as a "high-risk close contact" of an infected person.

Jackson could be cleared to play in this coming Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers if he tests negative for the virus and reports no symptoms typical of COVID-19 infections.

As Nick Shook wrote for the league's official website, Jackson's latest status update is made more worrisome for the Bears because fellow safety Sherrick McManis hasn't played since he suffered a broken index finger in the 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 8. McManis has mostly featured on special teams this year.

Jackson, meanwhile, has recorded 58 total tackles and leads the Bears with three forced fumbles. He also tallied a fumble recovery that he turned into a touchdown during the 24-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 26.

Meanwhile, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers begins Thanksgiving week the NFL leader in passer rating (115.8), according to ESPN stats.
