After beginning the season 0-2, new head coach Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears earned their first victory of the season with a 31-14 victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

They still have a long way to go to establish themselves as contenders in the NFC, but Bears fans should feel better about their standing after their latest victory. The team will look to carry this momentum into Week 4, when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders.

Securing their first win of the season was already a great development for Chicago, but things are only getting better as they received some good news following their victory against the Cowboys.

The Bears Received a Positive Injury Update on Monday

Though the Bears had a great victory against Dallas on Sunday, not all went well for the team, largely because of Colston Loveland, who suffered a hip injury during the game..

The rookie tight end played just six snaps during the game, all in the first half. Though he was initially listed as questionable to play in the second half, he was eventually ruled out. Fortunately for Loveland and the Bears, he will have a chance to play in Week 4 as his injury is not considered to be serious, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Bears TE Colston Loveland’s hip injury is not believed to be serious and he is expected to have a chance to play Sunday at the Raiders, per source," Schefter wrote on X.

Chicago drafted Loveland with the 10th overall pick in 2025, and though he has mostly gotten off to a slow start with the team, the potential is there.

The Michigan alum has recorded three receptions for 43 yards through his first three games of the season. However, it is evident that the talent is there. At 6-foot-6, Loveland should be a fantastic red zone target, which should be a huge help for a young quarterback like Caleb Williams. Additionally, he was a good receiving tight end during his final year in college, recording 56 receptions in just 10 games.

If the 21-year-old is set to miss any time, the Bears will rely much more heavily on tight end Cole Kmet, who is now in his sixth season with the team and recorded a touchdown on his only target against Dallas.

Loveland is an intriguing tight end who could be a great fit in Chicago. Hopefully for him and the team, he will be able to suit up against Las Vegas on Sunday.
