Kyle Monangai continues his stellar play and building off his impressive rookie season. He was instrumental to the Chicago Bears defeating the New York Jets in Week 4, recording a strong stat line. The team shared an update about the second-year running back on social media on Tuesday.

He registered 30 rushing attempts for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the 23-12 win. Monangai showed off his elite route running, finding holes to gain significant yardage and first downs. Tyson Bagent, who started in place of Caleb Williams, maximized the Rutgers product as the Jets defense couldn’t stop him.

Bagent, on the other hand, completed 25-of-34 passes for 268 yards. He was named the starter after Case Keenum starred under center in Week 3 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams continues to recover from a hamstring injury and remains week-to-week.

Bears posted a Kyle Monangai development

“Good Morning Football” co-host Kyle Brandt once again recognized Monangai’s strong Week 4 effort. The 24-year-old won his third “Angry Runs” award and became part of the “3-Scepter Club.”

Brandt highlights the most physical and aggressive plays, awarding a “scepter” to a player each week.

“Monangai is back.” Brandt said. “It’s incredible. This guy is only a couple of games into his second season and he has three scepters. He is now it’s like hosting SNL five times. You’re in the three-timer club. Kyle Manongai punching backwards. And I like that it’s gratuitous, I like that it’s violent (and) I like that it felt personal.

“I love that it was in a game in which he toted the ball 31 times and was still looking for work. Kyle Monangai, my man, this thing is going back to Lake Forest, Illinois. Shout out to the 847. The angriest runner in the league is Monangai. See you next week.”

Monangai shares the backfield with D’Andre Swift, and the two have been delivering for the the Bears. The duo made franchise history through four games, proving that they can thrive while sharing snaps.

The team will return to action on Sunday against its rivals, the Green Bay Packers. Monangai will once again be relied upon heavily, and it will be interesting to see if he’ll earn his fourth scepter on Brandt’s segment.
