Caleb Williams has missed the Chicago Bears’ last three games due to a hamstring injury. He hurt himself in the fourth quarter of the Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, exiting in the fourth quarter. The team has gone 2-1 without him, and Rome Odunze spoke about the starting quarterback’s situation.
Case Keenum started under center in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles and led Chicago to a 27-7 win. Tyson Bagent was named the starter in the last two games, splitting the results. Williams was listed as a full participant for Wednesday’s walk-thru, which is a good sign for his nearing return.
Odunze is coming off a three-reception performance last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. He recorded 47 yards but failed to make a strong impact, along with the entire offense. The unit produced just seven points and the Bears lost 31-7 to their rivals.
Odunze addressed reporters on Wednesday and talked about missing Williams on the field. He highlighted the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner’s elite skill set and what he brings to the team.
“I mean, obviously we’ve got a lot reps with 18,” Odunze said. “He’s our starting quarterback. He has tremendous talent, arm ability with his legs as well. So obviously when you’re missing a player like that on the field, you’re going to feel it. But like you said, man, we have a ton of confidence in our quarterbacks, quarterback room as a whole to go out there and make plays. So in his absence, they’re going out there and doing that, but obviously 18 is a playmaker for sure.”
Rome Odunze on the Difference of not having Caleb on the Field:

Can’t wait to get Iceman back.
