The Cowboys entered this offseason searching for a wide receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb.
One of the teams the Cowboys tried to construct a deal with was the Ravens.
Per Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys looked into a trade for Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman.
The 2021 first-round pick is coming off his best season as a pro. Bateman recorded 45 receptions for 756 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games for the Ravens.
When Zay Flowers missed the postseason, Bateman stepped up as the top receiver, catching six passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns in two playoff games.
Per Schultz, the Batman-to-Cowboys talks “didn’t go far.”
The Cowboys ultimately pivoted and traded with the Steelers for Pickens.

It took longer than expected, but Jerry Jones got his No. 2 receiver.
The Cowboys acquired Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick from the Steelers for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Pickens gives the Cowboys offense a prolific down-the-field threat. The former Steeler caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns in three seasons with Pittsburgh.
Pickens, Lamb, Dak Prescott, and the rest of the Cowboys’ offense will look to get Dallas back to the postseason after missing it last year.
