Bengals Announce Decision on Ja’Marr Chase After 6 Games

The Cincinnati Bengals offense has been one of the best units in the NFL and it has been thriving recently under quarterback Joe Burrow. Cincinnati has won two straight games and has totaled over 30 points in both victories.

Now in his sixth NFL season, Ja’Marr Chase has continued to set the standard. The 26-year-old five-time Pro Bowler has hauled in 32 receptions on 45 targets, totaling 351 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

While he has been productive, he has not totaled nearly as much production as his counterpart Tee Higgins, who has caught 33 balls for 571 yards. Still, that certainly does not matter to Chase as long as the team is winning.

As the Bengals prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, Chase popped up on the injury report. Chase was notably absent from practice when the Bengals took the field, raising some concern.

The Bengals then announced their official injury report and provided the reasoning. Chase is dealing with an ankle issue, though he could have practiced in a limited fashion through it. Instead, the Bengals decided to rest him (h/t Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic).

With this update, unless Chase’s ankle setback gets worse throughout the week, it should not jeopardize his status for Sunday’s game against the Titans.

If it does get worse, though, the Bengals could be cautious with him. Tennessee is a weaker opponent, and given Cincinnati wants to make a deep playoff run this year, it would be the ideal game to hold him out of if necessary.

Either way, the Bengals are on a roll, and keeping Chase healthy is part of that plan.
