Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning put together a terrific performance in his team’s Week 13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase took notice.

Speaking about Browning after the game, Chase called the signal-caller “QB1 material,” according to Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati.

Browning went 32-for-37 with 354 yards and a touchdown in the Monday night win in what was just the second start of his career.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Washington, went undrafted back in 2018 but eventually made his way to the Bengals in 2021.

He initially joined Cincinnati’s practice squad and was back and forth between the practice squad and the active roster until being signed to a futures contract last January.

Browning ultimately won the Bengals’ backup quarterback job this season, serving as the team’s No. 2 signal-caller behind Joe Burrow.

With Burrow now out for the season, Browning has taken the reins under center for Cincy.

In four appearances overall this year, Browning has thrown for 649 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while completing 75.6% of his passes and posting a passer rating of 107.3.

Chase has clearly become Browning’s favorite target early on, as the wide out hauled in 11 catches for 149 yards and a score against the Jaguars.

Through 12 games this season overall, Chase has totaled 86 receptions for 1,063 yards and seven touchdowns and seems to be well on his way to this third straight trip to the Pro Bowl.

The Bengals snapped a three-game losing streak with their win over Jacksonville and improved to 6-6 on the year. It was also a season-saving win for Cincinnati, as the team remains alive in the AFC playoff picture.

Jake Browning will aim to continue his impressive play when he and the Bengals host the Indianapolis Colts in a pivotal matchup this Sunday.
