Bengals' Joe Burrow unlikely to play in preseason?

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered multiple torn ligaments in his left knee back on Nov. 22 but has been fully cleared for football activities ahead of training camp.

Per Ben Baby of ESPN, however, Bengals owner and president Mike Brown said the team will likely hold the second-year signal-caller out of the three August preseason games.

Cincinnati kicks the preseason off at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 14.

"We probably aren't going to put him out there until we get to the season because we don't want to risk anything with him," Brown explained. "But his effort rehabbing was A-plus."

Burrow will not start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, which suggests he's expected to be available for Week 1 of the regular season, when the Bengals host the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 12.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor has said Burrow will take part in Cincinnati's 11-on-11 practice drills this summer and added the 24-year-old is "ready to get back at it." Across 10 starts during his rookie season, Burrow threw for 2,688 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.
