Best and worst NFL betting teams through Week 14

Week 14 was a big one in the NFL, with many teams building on solid betting records to now be included on the below lists, whether it's against the spread or to the over.

These betting trends can help explain why lines are set how they are and help to identify some intriguing overlaps and opportunities for betting on Week 15.

Best teams: ATS

  1. Cincinnati Bengals (10-3)
  2. Detroit Lions (9-4)
  3. New York Giants (9-4)
  4. Dallas Cowboys (8-5)
  5. Philadelphia Eagles (8-5)
  6. Tennessee Titans (8-5)
  7. Los Angeles Chargers (8-5)
  8. San Francisco 49ers (8-5)
  9. New York Jets (8-5)

The Bengals logged a relatively easy 23-10 win over the Browns on Sunday and moved to 10-3 against the spread, the best betting record in the NFL. The Lions and Eagles also moved up the ranks with big divisional wins over the Vikings and Giants.

Speaking of the Giants, they and the Titans are two teams that have been near the top of the board here for much of the season but suddenly haven't looked as competitive the last few weeks.

Worst teams: ATS

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-9-1)
  2. Kansas City Chiefs (4-8-1)
  3. Chicago Bears (4-8-1)
  4. Los Angeles Rams (4-7-2)
  5. Indianapolis Colts (5-8)
  6. Denver Broncos (5-8)
  7. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-8)
  8. New Orleans Saints (5-8)
  9. Green Bay Packers (5-8)

The Bucs got blown out by the 49ers in Week 14 and have moved down to the worst team ATS on the year, at 3-9-1. They remain in first in the NFC South for the time being.

It's surpising to see another division leader here in the Chiefs struggle against the spread, but this is no new issue. Since the beginning of 2020, Kansas City is 22-29-1 ATS.

Best teams: Overs

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (9-4)
  2. Chicago Bears (9-4)
  3. Detroit Lions (9-4)
  4. Seattle Seahawks (8-5)
  5. Minnesota Vikings (8-5)

Philly's offense has come alive the past three weeks, scoring 35+ points in three straight. This has propelled them to the top of the board alongside Chicago and Detroit at 9-4 to the over.

Best teams: Unders

  1. Denver Broncos (11-2)
  2. Buffalo Bills (10-3)
  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-3)
  4. Baltimore Ravens (9-4)
  5. Indianapolis Colts (9-4)

It finally happened! After over two months of going under in every game, the Broncos finally hit the over again against Kansas City. Is this the start of a flip to the script, or will Denver go back to hitting the under against Arizona on Sunday?

The Bills have moved into a tie for the second-best under record in the NFL after their 20-12 win over the Jets.

Week 15 Games of Interest

Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears (48.5 points) — We have two teams hitting their over with regularity of late, and with the Bears defense being such a liability, we'd expect Philly to once again pour on 35+ points. Justin Fields should be able to make some plays with his legs to chip in some touchdowns here, this seems like a good spot to load up on points with two 9-4 teams to the over this season.

Dallas Cowboys (-4) @ Jacksonville Jaguars — This spread opened at Dallas -5 and has moved to four points. Last week, the Cowboys were 17-point favorites over the Texans and just squeaked by, while the Jaguars blew out the Titans in a massive divisional win. Dallas is a week away from their biggest game of the season against the Eagles, so if you believe in trap games, perhaps Jacksonville keeps it going despite their poor record ATS. The cut-and-dry numbers suggest the Cowboys are the play here.

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers — We'll gladly fade the Buccaneers any chance we get, they just don't look good. Cincinnati has gotten Ja'Marr Chase back and are playing as well as anyone. It's not inconceivable that the Bengals push for a first-round bye, so expect them to come out hot against a struggling Tampa Bay team.
