Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick surprised fans on Valentine’s Day by releasing his "All-Belichick" team on Instagram.
He posted a picture of a depth chart featuring players on both sides of the ball.
Interestingly, one Patriot made the team: young standout cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
The 22-year-old receiving respect from not just a New England legend but an all-time defensive mind further elevates his growing reputation.
Gonzalez still has room to improve, as he ranks behind corners Patrick Surtain II and Derek Stingley Jr. on the depth chart.
Belichick also has a potential soft spot for Gonzalez, given the head coach selected the cornerback out of Oregon with the No. 17 pick as his last first-round selection with the team.
Either way, Gonzalez has earned plenty of respect not only from Belichick but around the league, showcasing how bright his future is.
In the last two drafts, the Patriots added Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick and Christian Gonzalez the year prior—two clear studs for years to come.
With the No. 4 pick this year, New England will look to hit it big with a third straight first-round pick.
If Belichick makes this team selection a yearly tradition, more Patriots players may be selected in the future.
