Bill Parcells once asked Lions' head coach Dan Campbell to do something crazy to keep a Cowboys' practice from being lethargic

Detroit Lions fans know how entertaining and how intense, in a good way, head coach Dan Campbell can be. He's a lot of fun and players love him, but he's not afraid to do things that get players hyped up.

He was this way as a player, too. Former Kansas City Cheifs head coach Todd Haley was on Kevin Clark's podcast this week and he talked about a funny moment from when he was on the Cowboys coaching staff and head coach Bill Parcells had a big ask of Campbell.

"We were struggling. I think we had a big game against the Giants, obviously, a big rival. It was in New York, on national television. It was going to be a night game. I think it's the game. Tony Romo actually might have got into the lineup after Drew Bledsoe, but practice on a Wednesday was going bad. I mean, and you could see Coach Parcells getting heated up. He was not happy with the way anything was going. There was no energy.

I see him call Dan over to his side and say a couple words to him. And Dan runs back into the huddle, and Parcells, with his arms crossed, like he always did, walked over and said 'watch this.' A fight ensued on the next play, and Dan Campell was in the middle. You know, as coaches, you've got to do whatever you have to do to get things going in the right direction. And he knew that Dan was his man, to get in there and stir it up, and it worked. I mean, all of a sudden, in practice, everybody's hooping and hollering excited, you know, and good things happened from there."

That is hilarious. Classic Dan Campbell. The guy who wants his team to succeed so bad that he will fight everyone at practice to make it happen. You still see that competitive edge with him today. Although you shouldn't expect him to punch anyone anytime soon.
