Bills All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer wants extension this offseason

The Buffalo Bills have been big spenders this offseason, as they signed pass-rusher Von Miller to a six-year deal that could be worth up to $120 million and recently put pen to paper on a four-year, $104 million extension that includes $70 million in guaranteed money with star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. 

Another one of Buffalo's own is looking to get paid sooner than later. 

Per Tim Graham of The Athletic (via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk), Bills safety Jordan Poyer has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent, and Rosenhaus claims he's approached the Bills about his client receiving an extension. 

"He would very much like to finish his career in Buffalo," Rosenhaus added about Poyer. 

Poyer has been with the Bills since March 2017 and inked a two-year extension with the club in March 2020. The two parties reworked his contract last September to offer the club salary-cap relief, and he went on to earn his first-ever First-Team All-Pro nod and recorded 93 total tackles, five interceptions and three sacks during regular-season play. 

As noted by Spotrac, Poyer is on track to earn $5.6 million in base salary for the 2022 season but carries a cap hit of more than $10.7 million for the final year of his deal. An extension would give Poyer additional financial guarantees and also reduce his salary-cap burden as the Bills look to get past the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals and other AFC contenders.
