The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens would be an ideal Super Bowl matchup, but we have to settle for both meeting in the Divisional Round of the playoffs at Highmark Stadium.
In a game that will feature two of the best quarterbacks in football, who both led two of the top three highest-scoring offenses in football, this has shootout written all over it.
The game will also pit MVP candidates Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson "against" each other with bragging rights and a trip to the AFC Championship game on the line.
For Allen, is there a sense of knowing that the Buffalo offense has to keep pace with Lamar Jackson's offense, which scores an average of 30 points per game?
“Absolutely,” Allen said in announcing his scouting report on the enemy. “Our job on offense is to score every time we touch the ball. Is that viable? Not usually but that's our goal every time we step on the field, is to score more points than the other guys.”
Given how potent the Ravens offense is (30.5 p/g), the Bills might have to score on every possession to keep pace with Jackson and Derrick Henry.
But this isn't a one-way street, though.
The Bills themselves are even better on offense, scoring 30.9 points per game (second-best), so the Ravens will also feel the pressure to score touchdowns, not field goals, making it a great spectacle for fans.
With a trip to the AFC Championship on the line, coupled with the MVP battle, this clash could be one for the ages, and it appears that Allen knows he might have to dust off that Superman cape if the Bills are to make it to just their second AFC title game under his guidance.
