Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen recently heaped praise on New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, touting both his physical and intangible talents.
According to NFL.com, Allen described his impression of Maye after watching and spending time with the AFC East Rival quarterback.
"I think Drake is super talented, he's one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the league," Allen said.
Maye is entering his second season in the NFL while Allen, who won an MVP award in 2024, is entering his eighth. However, Maye has already been compared to Allen because of their similar stature and skill set.
Maye is 6'4" and 202 lbs. Allen is 6'5" and 238 lbs. Like the Bills' superstar, Maye has a big arm and runs extremely well for his size. Over the years, Allen has finetuned his accuracy and decision-making, which is expected to be an important part of Maye's development going forward.
Allen had more encouraging words regarding Maye's future and development.
"I’ve spent some time around him and he’s got his head on his shoulders the right way… he exemplifies football," Allen said.
Also of note was Allen’s take on his former teammate Stefon Diggs, Maye’s new veteran weapon after departing Buffalo. Diggs went to all four of his career Pro Bowls during his time with Allen and the Bills.
"I think he [Diggs] brings a lot of security for Drake," Allen said. "Obviously, having the knowledge of playing in the league for so long, he has that veteran mentorship that he can give to Drake."
The former All-Pro wide receiver is looking to return to form after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear that cut his 2024 season short.
Adding a player like Diggs was just a small part of what the Patriots are trying to build, and it looks a lot like what the Bills did to help a young Josh Allen.
