During the 2024 offseason, analysts everywhere had grown concerned about what the Buffalo Bills were doing to their team.
Aging stars like Stefon Diggs, Jordan Poyer, and Micah Hyde were shown the door for cap relief and cheaper options. Many analysts believed that a down year was coming for the Bills under Sean McDermott and Josh Allen.
Through 11 weeks, that down year hasn't hit.
Buffalo sits at an impressive 9-2 start - the best start for the organization since 1992 - and has taken a commanding five-game lead over the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East race.
It's left some in the organization checking in on those who doubted them in the first place.
"There were a lot of questions about our team coming into this season that were mentioned and documented through the course of the early part of the season in particular," McDermott said.
"We were able to do a good job, adding some personnel, and then coaches, developing some of the young players who were onboarded early here. We've kind of weathered the storm with some injuries, getting through some of that kind of chapter of the book to this point as well."
McDermott entered the season on the hot seat after numerous playoff failings, but it's clear as day he's the right man leading the job in Buffalo.
If they can find a way to keep their winning streak going, the AFC playoffs may not run through Kansas City after all. And all bets are off if the playoff actually ends up going through Western New York.
