Bills Poised For Major Moves Paying Off In NFL Playoffs

It was clear that defense would be the priority for the Buffalo Bills this offseason, with Josh Allen and the offense set.

The offseason has seen Joey Bosa, Michael Hoecht, and Larry Ogunjobi come in, along with a haul of draftees, which saw Buffalo go defense with its first five selections.

Corner Maxwell Hairston, two defensive tackles in T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker, edge rusher Landon Jackson, and defensive back Jordan Hancock all come looking to add some fire to Sean McDermott's defense.

And for ESPN, they think the Bills' defensive mindset was made with a clear thought of playoff football.

"With the first five picks on defense, the Bills clearly wanted to improve up front and become more athletic on the back end," ESPN writes. "Last year's defense feasted on other team's mistakes, leading the league with 24 turnovers, but that's probably not sustainable every season. Going heavy on that side of the ball -- opting for defensive line on three of the first four picks -- should help Buffalo get a few more stops per week, which will pay off in January."

Having had trouble getting off the field on third down in the playoffs, the Bills will now have three decent additions in Ogunjobi, Bosa, and Hoecht to combine with Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa to go quarterback hunting.

With the Bills again expected to be at the pointy end of the conversation when it comes to winning the Super Bowl, having a defense that can get off the field will be crucial.

And it's clear each move this offseason has been made with that thought in mind.

The playoffs are where the Bills want to play their best football, and with the free agency additions and draftees, the hope is that this defense will enter the playoffs with the weaponry needed to go all the way.
