The Buccaneers outrushed the Bills by over 100 yards (202-97) and won the turnover battle (3-2) and STILL managed to lose by double digits.
Josh Allen was a one man gang as he ran for 3 TDs and threw 3 more.
Baker Mayfield
went toe to toe with him until a costly Interception in the 3rd quarter. The Bucs were up 26-24 and after that Interception it took the Bills only 1 play to regain the lead. 31-26.
It was day that Baker had to be near perfect which of course is more than you should have to expect out of any QB. Unfortunately because of the Bucs Defense and Special Teams it was a necessity.
The Defense has been horrific for 3 out of the last 4 games. When they’re not giving up 50+ yards plays, they’re not getting to the QB.
Going into the game everyone said stop their run game and that should lead to a victory. Well
Josh Allen reminded everyone why he was league MVP last year.
As bad as the Bucs Defense was, the special teams were even worse. After every Bucs score, it seems, the kickoff coverage units kept allowing huge returns. It’s tough enough to stop Allen as it is, but when you keep giving him short fields good luck!
Two out of the three units didn’t do their jobs today and that goes on the shoulders of the HC. It’s clear that this is not an elite team. That 6-2 start has turned into 6-4 and their lead in the division has shrunk to 1/2 game as the Panthers, all but eliminated the Falcons from any shot at the division, with their win in OT.
The Bucs (6-4) play the Panthers (6-5) twice in the last 3 games of the season and it sure feels like that will decide the division.
Up next is a Sunday night match up with probably the best team in the Conference in the LA Rams. Ouch!
