Bills Trade C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger To Colts

Buffalo added former Denver and Tennessee starting center Lloyd Cushenberry this offseason. While Cushenberry did not live up to a lucrative Titans deal, leading to his release earlier this year, he will be in line to back up Connor McGovern. That left Van Pran-Granger on the outside looking in, and the Colts will take a flier on the young blocker.

With the Bills’ O-line staying mostly healthy during Van Pran-Granger’s two seasons, he still made two starts and appeared in 31 regular-season games. While a clear candidate to challenge the Colts’ equipment staff with a rather long jersey nameplate, the 2024 fifth-round pick will provide some depth behind Tanor Bortolini.

Van Pran-Granger played 92 center snaps last season and only five at guard; in 2024, that ratio was 119-1. The Colts are assuredly acquiring Van Pran-Granger to be Bortolini’s primary backup. The Colts carried questionable center depth into cutdown day, and they will use a pick-swap agreement to find some. Two years remain on Van Pran-Granger’s rookie contract.

A Georgia product who was part of the team’s two national championship-winning squads earlier this decade, Van Pran-Granger was a first-team All-SEC center with the Bulldogs in 2023. He joins a Colts team that lost Danny Pinter (to the Ravens) in free agency. Indy had tried guard Dalton Tucker at center during the preseason, but snap issues brought some trouble. Van Pran-Granger will be brought in to handle those, in the event Bortolini goes down, moving forward.
