Bobby Slowik Sends Clear Message About De’Von Achane’s Role

De’Von Achane’s Week 1 Usage Forces Miami Dolphins to Make a Change

The Miami Dolphins entered the 2026 season with expectations completely up in the air for their remodeled offense and team in general. One part of their clear offseason game plan was to have the offense revolve around De’Von Achane. In Week 1, that didn’t happen.

Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik made sure to note the inability of factoring Achane in more by saying, “We don’t want to leave a game with De’Von Achane only having 14 touches.”

The Miami Dolphins Need to Build Around De’Von Achane Better

Achane finished the Dolphins’ Week 1 game with 11 rushing attempts that went for 36 yards while also hauling in four receptions for 30 yards and zero touchdowns. With losing as many notable names as the Dolphins did, Slowik needs to rely on Achane better if they want to have success on offense.

Even if they have games like the did against the Las Vegas Raiders where the line of scrimmage is dominated, Slowik should be finding alternative ways to keep Achane involved going forward.
