Brandon Aubrey’s field goal streak ends in Week 18 vs Commanders
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey was attempting to break the NFL’s streak for perfect kicks in a season on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. Instead, the rookie kicker’s streak ended at 35 kicks after a 32-yard field goal attempt was blocked and returned to the Dallas 29-yard line.

Aubrey needed just two more makes to tie the record of 37 consecutive made kicks in a single season. Instead, his streak ends at 35. He ties the No. 2 kicker in the record book, former Vikings star Gary Anderson who kicked 35 straight in 1998. The record holder is Mike Vanderjagt of the Colts. He made 37 field goals in 2003.

Aside from disrupting the Cowboys’ path to the No. 2 seed and the NFC East title, the Commanders have little to go all-out for on Sunday. Washington is 4-12 and reportedly nearing a parting of ways with head coach Ron Rivera.
