The wide receiver is already making an impact in Houston, despite being injured.

Braxton Berrios has yet to make his debut with the Houston Texans this season, but the veteran wide receiver and kick returner has already immersed himself in his new community.

Recently, we caught up with Berrios as he teamed up with Fogo de Chão and No Kid Hungry to serve meals to the public at a nearby high school. In addition to disseminating food and greeting those who made use of the service, Berrios also got to spend time with members of the school’s football and cross country teams.

The 29-year-old called the partnership “an amazing way to start my time with the Texans.

“It’s inspiring to see how the two organizations have worked together for years to make an impact, and I’m proud to play even a small part in that effort,” Berrios told The Spun.

We were able to serve over 1,300 meals in Houston, and it felt great to be out in the community giving back alongside a local brand and a national organization that are making a real difference.”

Before signing with the Texans this offseason, Berrios spent two years with the Miami Dolphins following a four-year stint with the New York Jets. His 2024 season came to a premature close when he suffered a torn ACL.

After navigating rehab throughout the free agency process, Berrios suffered a hamstring injury this summer which has kept him out of action through the first three weeks of the season.

He made his return to practice last Friday, but was inactive for the Texans’ loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

“I’m feeling great about where I am right now,” Berrios said. “The injury was frustrating at first, but I’ve been putting in the work and I’m eager to finally get back on the field.”

Capable of contributing in the passing game and on returns, Berrios will be counted on to be a veteran leader for Houston this season, particularly as the Texans try to bounce back from an 0-3 start.

“My time with the Miami Dolphins was a huge part of my growth as a player and a person,” Berrios said. “I still have a lot of respect for that organization and my former teammates, and I think they’re in a great position to have a strong season. Coming to Houston feels like a fresh start, and I’m excited to bring everything I learned there to make an impact here.”
