Breece Hall Injury Update Emerges Amid Trade Speculation
USA TODAY Network

New York Jets running back Breece Hall received an important update Friday as speculation continues about whether the franchise could trade him before the NFL deadline.

According to the New York Post’s Brian Costello , Hall will be limited in Friday’s practice and is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

“Breece Hall will be limited today and is questionable for Sunday,” Costello reported.

Hall has missed the past four weeks with a quad injury, and his absence has allowed fellow running back Braelon Allen to emerge as one of the NFL’s most productive rushers, leading to speculation heading into the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Allen has racked up 418 rushing yards in four starts and 91 total carries, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt and adding 75 receiving yards on 15 receptions through seven games this season.

According to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, the Jets now know they have a potential replacement if they decide to move Hall.

“(Jets GM Darren) Mougey smartly structured Hall’s contract in a way that wouldn’t be debilitating if they did decide to move him,” Rosenblatt wrote. “Still, I’m not ready to predict that the Jets would trade Hall.”

Costello offered a similar assessment in his deadline outlook, noting that New York signed Hall to a three-year, $43.5 million contract in May but suggesting that Allen’s emergence at least makes a Hall trade feasible.

“Is it possible the Jets think they can afford to trade Hall?” Costello wrote. “Maybe if someone blows Mougey away. This feels unlikely but not impossible.”

New York enters Sunday at 2-5, adding to speculation that the organization could become a seller once again at the deadline. The Jets host the Raiders at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
