The 2026 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports for all of this year's top prospects.
Mississippi State's Brenen Thompson might be the fastest player in the entire draft, with elite straight-line speed he put on display with the fastest 40-yard dash at this year's NFL Scouting Combine. That kind of game-breaking ability should have Thompson in high demand for every offense in the league.
Here's everything NFL fans need to know about Green heading into this year's draft:
Height: 5-9
Weight: 170
Age: 22
A nightmare for opposing defenses over the top and after the catch, Thompson’s elite speed jumps off the screen as soon as you press play. He can change direction on a dime, leaving would-be tacklers in the dust with elite lateral quickness and short-area burst. He’s a technician with his releases off the line of scrimmage, varying his speeds and using clean, concise footwork to put him in the best position to beat his defender. He knows he can take the top off the defense anytime he wants, which gives Thompson opportunities to sell go routes hard before breaking them off and creating tons of separation at the intermediate levels of the field.
Thompson’s undersized frame presents the usual issues, from a lack of physicality to questions about his ability to hold up against the toughness of NFL competition. If he gets jammed successfully at the line of scrimmage by bigger corners, Thompson can struggle to regain the timing and trajectory of his route, leading to problems for his quarterback if he looks his way. He’s a willing participant as a blocker, but he simply lacks the mass to effectively anchor against stronger defenders.
The skill set Thompson brings to the table here is obvious, and it’s no less valuable just because it comes in a small package. What he lacks in size and physicality, Thompson makes up for with elite speed and big-play ability, something that won’t be lost on NFL front offices when they need a spark on offense or special teams on Day 3.
