Brett Favre Makes Prediction on Aaron Rodgers Retirement Amid Latest News

With the New York Jets struggling, rumors are swirling about Aaron Rodgers' health and future.

The Jets have stumbled to a 3-8 record during a chaotic season, and Rodgers' play has been subpar, especially by his standards. A recent report from The Athletic noted that Jets owner Woody Johnson even suggested benching the 40-year-old four-time MVP.

There have also been rumors that Rodgers has resisted medical scans "out of fear of having to come off the field," per Ian Rapoport.

All the scuttlebutt has led to questions about Rodgers' future and whether he'll stick around with the Jets or retire next season. Brett Favre, who spoke to TMZ Sports about his former understudy, has some expertise on both Rodgers and retirement.

"I'm as shocked as anyone. I was singing the praises of the team and, of course, Aaron," Favre said of the Jets' struggles. "At times, we've seen glimpses of the old Aaron. Honestly, I don't know how he feels physically. I don't know if that's an issue. Something's missing."

Favre acknowledged that the Jets have the potential to turn things around and make a strong run, which could set the stage for Rodgers to finish on a high note. However, the Hall of Famer doesn’t believe Rodgers will walk away if the season continues to decline.

"What I know about Aaron is he's an ultra-competitor. And no one wants to go out either injured, like he did last year, or playing the way he and the team have this year," Favre said. "I find it hard to believe a competitor of the magnitude that Aaron has been over the years would go out if it ended today."

Rodgers and the Jets are coming off their bye week and will face the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 1.
