Brett Favre: Packers should use Jordan Love like Saints use Taysom Hill

The Green Bay Packers won't be using Jordan Love as their starting quarterback during the 2020 campaign with Aaron Rodgers still firmly under center, but there may be another use for him.

Hall of Famer and former Packers QB Brett Favre thinks Green Bay should use Love similarly to how the New Orleans Saints have made Taysom Hill a Swiss Army knife of sorts.

"I think there's ways to incorporate it much like Taysom Hill with the Saints," Favre said, according to TMZ. "Use him as a halfback, a halfback pass, but occasionally let him run it just to show that you'll do that. Something like that."

Hill has played all over the field for New Orleans — taking snaps at quarterback and even playing running back during his first three years with the team. In fact, he was listed as a wide receiver last season and reeled in 19 receptions for 234 yards while adding 156 yards rushing.

There's no word on whether or not Love would have any interest of being used in that fashion, though you'd think he'd be willing to give it a go as a rookie. 

The Packers drafted Love to take over Rodgers' throne at some point in the near future, and that didn't sit very well with the 36-year-old, who admitted he wasn't thrilled with the selection.

It's not entirely difficult to see why Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst is preparing for life after Rodgers. While the Packers have made the playoffs eight times since Rodgers became a starter in 2008, they haven't won or made it to a Super Bowl since their SB XLV win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, Rodgers had a terrific 2019 campaign, going 13-3 while throwing for 4,002 yards and 26 touchdowns. Gutekunst admitted that Rodgers will continue to be Green Bay's leader for a "very long time," but it's hard to ignore the fact he's being given the Brett Favre treatment.

Rodgers signed a four-year, $134 million deal in August 2018, so it's hard to imagine he'll play for a new team before 2022 — but anything is possible.
