There aren't many people who can relate to how Shedeur Sanders is feeling right now. Former NFL star Brett Favre, however, is one of them.
Before he became a Hall of Fame quarterback, Favre was trying to make a name for himself at Southern Mississippi. He finished his college career with 7,695 yards, 52 touchdowns and 34 interceptions.
Favre was expected to be a first-round pick in the 1991 NFL Draft. However, the three-time MVP didn't hear his name called until the 33rd pick. The Atlanta Falcons were willing to take a chance on him. Of course, his stint in Atlanta didn't last very long. He was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 1992.
Even though Sanders has experienced a steeper fall down draft boards, Favre understands what it's like to be snubbed by NFL teams.
On Saturday morning, Favre delivered a classy message to Sanders without actually name-dropping him.
"Heck I didn’t care when I got drafted, I just wanted a team to give me a chance wherever I went," Favre wrote on social media. "It’s what you do when your # is called that matters, not when you were taken. On top of that, the team that drafted me didn’t even want me."
Everything worked out just fine for Favre despite falling out of the first round. Perhaps we'll say the same thing for Sanders several years from now. But first, he'll need to find a home in the NFL.
While it's unclear which team will take a chance on Sanders, his value is too good to ignore on Day 3 of the draft.
