Brock Bowers reacts to being named best tight end in the NFL

Last week, Brock Bowers accomplished a feat that no other rookie had done in the history of the NFL.

On ESPN’s top ten lists for the best players at each position, no rookie has ever been at the top of any list. That changed this year with the tight ends, as Bowers barely beat out George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers for the top spot.

“Great person, hard worker, instinctive, great hands, matchup problem due to his speed and athleticism with elite [run after catch] ability,” an anonymous NFC executive said, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

However, Bowers does not appear to be resting on his laurels, instead hoping to build on his stellar rookie season.

Bowers is already focused on next season with the Raiders.

In a media appearance before the Battle of Las Vegas charity softball game between the Raiders and Vegas Golden Knights, Bowers was asked about how it felt to be named one of the best tight ends in the NFL so early on in his career.

“That is cool, we will see how it goes. It doesn’t mean anything at the beginning of the year,” Bowers responded.

Bowers’s answer is an indication that he is hoping to continue getting better, which is a terrifying thought for the rest of the NFL.

The historic rookie season Bowers enjoyed also came with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell throwing him the ball, suggesting improvement is very much possible. With Geno Smith providing a clear upgrade at the quarterback position, Bowers stands to be one of the primary beneficiaries of an improved passing game.

Bowers has earned the high praise coming into this season, and he is one hundred percent focused on proving why he deserves that title for a long time to come.
