The Denver Broncos are gearing up for their season-opening contest against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 7. Broncos Country has shown it is more than ready for the upcoming matchup, as they've made their presence felt even during the preseason.
Unfortunately, the final injury report leaves Denver shorthanded on defense . Newly acquired Dre Greenlaw has been absent from practice, with head coach Sean Payton emphatically telling the media that he will not be discussing injuries.
With that, fans and the media alike needed to wait until the official injury report to get a better idea of what this team may look like on game day. It wasn't just Greenlaw, though, as defensive tackle Malcolm Roach has also been ruled out. Two key defenders won't be available to challenge Cam Ward, who makes his NFL debut on Sunday.

Nate Adkins, who was expected to miss the contest , has also been ruled out while he deals with a nagging ankle injury. Fortunately, the rest of the injury update was good news as Nik Bonitto, Marvin Mims Jr., Alex Singleton, and Dondrea Tillman were all full participants for Friday's practice.
Bonitto just inked a massive extension and made sure to give his love to his family and the city that's had his back since day one. Getting a one-man wrecking crew back on the defensive side of the football is a big victory, though it was never really a doubt that he'd be on the field.
Pair that with the news of Mims Jr., their All-Pro punt returner and a key part of their offense with Bo Nix — the positives outweighed the negatives.
Let’s go win this f*ckin chip now! https://t.co/YA1rrhWdek

For Greenlaw, it's unfortunate, as the fan base is desperately waiting to see him on the field during the regular season. He was brought in to help bolster an already impressive defense.
In 2024, Denver led the league in sacks and was the No. 3 scoring defense in the NFL, only allowing 18.3 points per game, and led the league in defensive Expected Points Added.

It wasn't all bad news, but the reality of not being able to see Greenlaw or Roach wreak havoc on the Tennessee Titans is a bit more than a little disappointing.
Nevertheless, football is back, and we won't have to wait long to see what this Broncos team looks like, with Payton expressing that they have all the tools to make a deep playoff run.
Get ready, Broncos Country, it's almost time for some football.
