The Denver Broncos are hoping to do a little better than last season in order to knock off the Kansas City Chiefs and make a deeper run in the playoffs. To that end, they might be primed to add one division rival's top players from last season.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Broncos are hosting free agent running back J.K. Dobbins for a dinner with the coaches. Per the report, he will visit the team's facility on Thursday.
Dobbins had his best season as a pro in 2024. The former Ohio State star had 195 carries for 905 yards and nine touchdowns en route to his first year of over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
The Chargers thrived when they ran the ball, going 10-0 in games where the team had at least 95 rushing yards. Unfortunately, the Houston Texans limited the team to significantly less than that in the playoffs and their promising season ended abruptly with a Wild Card Round exit.
"Former #Chargers starting RB J.K. Dobbins is headed to Denver tonight to have dinner with coaches and visit the #Broncos facility Thursday, per source. The dynamic Dobbins, who had 1,084 yards from scrimmage and 9 TDs in 2024, now could land with an AFC West contender," he wrote.

Dobbins has had a lot of ups and downs through his first five seasons in the NFL. After a promising rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020, he suffered a season-ending injury prior to the 2021 campaign and was limited to just nine games over the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
But while the Ravens had to give up on their former second-round draft pick, Jim Harbaugh - who previously coached against Dobbins in many games between his Michigan Wolverines and Dobbins' Ohio State Buckeyes - was ready to give him a shot at redemption.
Dobbins rewarded Harbaugh's confidence with 1,058 yards from scrimmage and finished second in the Comeback Player of the Year voting.
Dobbins could find a niche in Denver quickly too. With the departure of Javonte Williams, the Broncos could instantly upgrade at the running back position by adding him to the backfield.
Will Dobbins sign with the Broncos? Will he have another big season in 2025?
