The Denver Broncos are currently in the middle of training camp as they gear up for the 2026 NFL season. The Broncos are returning most of their core from a year ago, one that led the team to an appearance in the AFC Championship Game as the number one seed in the conference.
On Tuesday, the Broncos got an injury scare on one of their most important players.
“Nik Bonitto is slowly leaving the practice field with a trainer at each side,” reported Nick Kosmider of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.
At this point, it’s unclear exactly what happened to Bonitto that caused the apparent injury, but Broncos fans will certainly hope that it’s nothing serious. Bonitto has established himself as one of the best pass rushers in the league in his young NFL career, anchoring a defensive unit last year in Denver that was one of the best in the NFL.
With over a month still remaining before the new season begins, it would certainly be understandable if the Broncos want to be cautious with Bonitto as training camp continues to avoid further injury.
Meanwhile, Denver is also hoping for better injury luck on the offensive side of the ball, as quarterback Bo Nix was forced to miss the AFC Championship Game last year after suffering a bizarre injury down the stretch of the previous playoff game vs the Buffalo Bills.
In any case, the Broncos’ new season is slated to get underway on September 14 on the road vs the Kansas City Chiefs.
