Denver’s Defense Delivers in Primetime

The Denver Broncos earned a dramatic 17-14 overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night at Empower Field at Mile High, using a dominant defensive performance and a clutch overtime field goal to secure a major win.

Denver improved to 4-2 on the season after surviving a frustrating second half in which its offense struggled to move the football. Seattle rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to force overtime, but costly turnovers ultimately prevented the Seahawks from completing the comeback.

Broncos Build an Early Lead

Denver struggled on its opening possession but found its rhythm on the next two drives. The Broncos put together a lengthy scoring possession in the second quarter, moving 74 yards over 16 plays before RJ Harvey finished the drive with a one yard touchdown run.

The Broncos followed with another productive possession, this time covering 79 yards over nine plays. Harvey again found the end zone on a short rushing touchdown, giving Denver a 14-3 advantage.

Seattle’s only points of the first half came on a 55 yard field goal from Jason Myers. The Seahawks struggled to generate offense, finishing the opening half with just 91 total yards.

Denver’s defense consistently pressured quarterback Sam Darnold, recording sacks and forcing hurried throws. Nik Bonitto also forced a fumble that helped prevent Seattle from cutting further into the deficit before halftime.

Seattle Fights Back Late

The Broncos’ offense struggled after the break, managing only 36 yards across eight second-half drives. Seattle gradually took advantage, keeping the game within reach while its defense continued to limit Denver’s opportunities.

The Seahawks finally found the end zone in the fourth quarter, turning a 14-3 deficit into a tie at 14-14. Their late rally forced overtime and put Denver under pressure to respond.

However, Seattle’s offensive mistakes continued to prove costly. Darnold threw interceptions at critical moments, including one during overtime that gave Denver an opportunity to end the game.

Broncos Finish the Job

Denver’s defense came through when it mattered most. Kris Abrams-Draine and Ja’Quan McMillian recorded interceptions, while the Broncos finished with five sacks and repeatedly disrupted Seattle’s passing attack.

After gaining possession in overtime, Denver moved into field-goal range. Wil Lutz converted the decisive kick, giving the Broncos a 17-14 victory and sending the home crowd into celebration.

Denver Looks Ahead

The victory improves Denver to 4-2 and provides valuable momentum heading into its next matchup against Arizona. Although the offense will need to become more consistent, the defensive performance offered plenty of encouragement.

For Seattle, the loss drops the Seahawks to 3-3. Their late comeback showed resilience, but turnovers and offensive struggles proved too difficult to overcome.

Denver survived a tense Thursday night, with its defense and special teams making the difference in a hard fought overtime win.
