Productive veteran who's spent last two years in Denver.
Burton started two of 17 games last season, totaling eight rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 10 receptions, and 65 receiving yards. He had six tackles (two solo) on special teams.
Drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round (No. 168 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, Burton spent two seasons with the team, totaling two rushing yards, six receptions, and 39 receiving yards on offense.
After being waived by the Lions, Burton was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears in 2017. He has also played for the New Orleans Saints (in two separate stints), the Washington Commanders, and the Kansas City Chiefs before finding a home in Denver.
Over his ten-year career, Burton has recorded a total of 79 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 31 receptions, 196 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns on offense. On special teams, he has amassed 38 tackles (20 solo) and one forced fumble.
Those aren't lofty numbers on paper, but Burton's impact goes beyond the box score. As Denver's starting fullback, Burton's primary role is to create rushing lanes for Denver's running backs.
Burton excels in that role, but his greatest contribution comes on special teams, where he won't be afraid to do the dirty work for new Special Teams Coordinator Darren Rizzi.
