Broncos Set to Visit With 1,084-Yard Running Back

The Denver Broncos went into the 2025 offseason with a clear goal of improving their running back room. After letting Javonte Williams walk and adding RJ Harvey in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, there was still work to be done in the running back room.

While not a signing, the Broncos, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, are bringing in former Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins in for a visit on Thursday night.

With the Broncos looking to expand their running back room and add a complement to Harvey in the backfield, they are set to host the former Chargers running back for a visit.

Dobbins flashed his potential coming off a series of tough injuries that kept him out of the 2021 season and cut his 2023 season short at one game. In 2024 with the Chargers, Dobbins ran for 905 yards and nine touchdowns, along with 153 receiving yards on 32 receptions.

Dobbins' dual-threat ability would be a nice complement to Harvey's dynamic running ability. With head coach Sean Payton running the offense, the Broncos are likely to utilize multiple running backs. Dobbins, if signed, would likely spell Harvey as the team's second-string running back.

The 26-year-old Dobbins has played in four NFL seasons, three with the Baltimore Ravens and one with the Chargers. He's ran for 2,252 yards and 21 touchdowns across his career, with an average yards per carry of 5.2.

Coming off a bounce-back season in 2024, which featured Dobbins running for 96 yards and one touchdown against the Broncos in week six, Dobbins is scheduled to visit with the Broncos.

Pelissero's report that Dobbins is set to visit the Broncos on Thursday and have dinner with the coaches on Wednesday is a sign that a deal could come to fruition. It's a similar process the Broncos took with tight end Evan Engram, and they're following the same playbook with Dobbins.

This time next week, the Broncos could have a new running back two in town, as Dobbins is visiting with Denver over the next 24 hours.
