Cleveland Browns have three preseason games before the regular season starts, but one member of the team is already receiving praise from a player he will soon be matching up with.
The defense in Northeast Ohio will be trying to build off of a very good 2023 season for the defense. One important player on that defense is receiving some praise from the Browns’ Week 1 opponent.
Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb went on The Edge with Micah Parsons and listed his top five cornerbacks in the NFL. He had a lot of respect for cornerback Denzel Ward, who came in at No. 5 on this list.
"Denzel Ward, he's a sleeper," Lamb said. "Bros nice. His technique is crazy. I watch a lot of film, I watch potential guys that [are] going to guard me. I watch how you move, I watch how you, you know. He does everything right, but he ain't gonna hold you, he gonna mirror you. At the receiver position, that's the best technique and he tackles."
Lamb is coming off of a monster season of 135 catches, 1,749 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns. The All-Pro is undoubtedly one of the best in the game at his position and will be a big part of what the Browns game plan for to start the season.
The two have never matched up in a game where they primarily saw each other. Lamb played the Browns in his rookie season and had five catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns. However, in that game, it was Amari Cooper who was the top wideout for the Cowboys and who Ward was worried about most on their offense at that time.
That will not be the case to start Week 1, as Ward is going to be tested in a big way right out of the gates. Ward’s speed and fluidity will be key for the matchup since Lamb brings a bit of speed himself. We have to get through training camp and the preseason but the season is right around the corner and it has the potential to start off with a bang.
