Browns DROY Carson Schwesinger Sits Out Practice Again

Carson Schwesinger's "minor" injury is becoming more concerning.

The Cleveland Browns middle linebacker and reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year was absent at practice for the third consecutive day Tuesday.

Schwesinger missed three straight days of practice, including the Browns' first full-pad practice Monday, with what head coach Todd Monken called "a little minor injury."

Of course, it's more important for Schwesinger to be healthy by Week 1, when Cleveland opens its season against the reigning AFC South champion Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13. But the fact that their franchise defensive player is absent is not great.

Carson Schwesinger Missed Practice Again Tuesday

Schwesinger was on the field in his jersey on the side during Browns individual drills Tuesday, a good sign since he was not getting treatment in the training room in Berea.

But the fact Schwesinger's injury has not been disclosed, and that it is bad enough to keep him out of drills is alarming.

"He’s dealing with a little minor injury, so he will not be back today," Monken said Monday.

Schwesinger, the Browns' second-round pick of the 2025 NFL Draft (No. 33) led the team in solo tackles (67) and was sixth in the NFL in tackles (156) while playing 97% of Cleveland's defensive snaps in 2025.

Of course, the Browns added veteran Quincy Williams to shore up their linebacker unit around Schwesinger. Williams has been participating, and Schwesinger is excited to have the former New York Jets player on his side.

"He’s got a lot of energy, so you can count on that every day," Schwesinger said of Williams. "I mean, if you watch him play, he doesn’t even look like he’s played for that long because of how fast he moves, and then I think just the bond. When you’re around guys all day, you get closer, and so that’s grown."

No one seems particularly worried about Schwesinger's injury being a long-term thing, but he still is learning Mike Rutenberg's system, and everyone could have lived without this.

K.C. Concepcion Was Back at Practice and 'Fine' Tuesday

The Browns got some good news about wide receiver K.C. Concepcion, who was back and participating in drills after leaving practice Monday after sustaining a shoulder injury on a hard fall during the two-minute drill session.

Concepcion is, of course, the Browns' 2026 first-round pick (No. 24) from Texas A&M. He is one of two rookie wideouts, along with Denzel Boston, hoping to support Cleveland's quarterbacks, either Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson.

Monken was asked about Concepcion's status during his pre-practice media availability.

"He's doing fine," Monken said. "We'll see [how much he does] when we get out there. He's still sore."

According to Cleveland.com, Concepcion was participating in individual drills with the other Browns wideouts and did do pre-practice stretches.
