As recently as Monday morning, Daryl Ruiter of Cleveland sports radio station 92.3 The Fan suggested that the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles are "teams to keep an eye on" regarding the Cleveland Browns possibly trading star pass-rusher Myles Garrett.
During a subsequent 92.3 The Fan appearance, Ruiter was asked to give a "percent chance" that Garrett is still with the Browns by the time the club's mandatory minicamp begins on June 9. Pockets of Cleveland fans probably won't love Ruiter's answer.
"I'll put it at 40 percent," Ruiter responded. "I'm leaning more towards Myles being traded than him remaining. That's just where I'm at right now."
Ruiter was also asked if he felt this way during the final week of May.
"No, I didn't," he said. "Last week, I was 50-50, 60-40 he stays. But, there just seems to be a lot of smoke out there right now, and it feels like the pendulum is swinging towards Myles Garrett playing elsewhere in 2026."
A win-now Rams team has reportedly made a so-called "'Godfather' offer" for Garrett. Additionally, the Eagles may soon acquire an additional future first-round draft pick if they officially trade wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots as soon as Tuesday.
That said, the Browns are seemingly on track to start Deshaun Watson at quarterback over Shedeur Sanders this coming September. Cleveland allegedly doesn't plan to bring Watson back after this season, so one would think those running the club would want to further evaluate Sanders if Garrett is traded via a move that would undeniably make the 2026 Browns a worse team, on paper.
Ruiter was asked what Browns general manager Andrew Berry may want for Garrett, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year who set a new single-season sacks record last season and who turned 30 years old this past December.
"At bare minimum," Ruiter said, "you're talking two first-round picks and an impact player. Maybe three first-round picks plus additional picks on top of that, whether that's another third and a fifth thrown in there. But you are talking about a substantial trade. ...The value is still there for him. He just set the NFL record for sacks in a single season last year. He is not on the decline. He is not showing any signs of being on the decline. So, it will be a substantial return for the Browns should Andrew Berry decide to pull the trigger and trade Myles Garrett."
Neither Berry nor anybody else associated with the Browns has publicly hinted since the end of the 2025 season that Garrett will be made available. Garrett signed a four-year, $160M contract extension that included $123.5M guaranteed last offseason. That said, the two sides more recently agreed to change when option bonuses attached to his contract would be due via a deal that could make it easier for Cleveland to trade him this spring or summer.
