The Cleveland Browns need a quarterback in 2025. As a matter of fact, they may need two.
After the news of Deshaun Watson's second Achilles tear in three months, his days in Cleveland may be over.
Even if they're not, the Browns will need a quarterback for 2025 since Watson won't be ready for a return anytime soon. And with the second pick in April's NFL Draft, they'll have options like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
Or they may decide to go in a different direction and upgrade the defense at No. 2. In which case, they could pick a quarterback later in the draft or find one in free agency.
One such quarterback that's been rumored to have the Browns' interest is Ole Miss signal-caller Jaxson Dart. But ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi isn't so sure that's true.
"I do, but I don't know if they do. I would say no on that one. A mild no. I don't think they're hot on him," Grossi said. "But it's so early in the process I might have a different answer on Episode 5 five weeks from now. But I would say no truth to that rumor."
While Grossi says he likes Dart, he doubts the Browns have any real interest. But maybe they should. Dart could go as late as the third round if you believe some of the so-called draft experts. Others have him going in the first round, which seems high to us here at Browns Digest.
But if it's a direction that Cleveland would like to go, then there are options at No. 2 that don't involve a quarterback. And at this point, the Browns need all the help they can get.
