Browns’ Jerry Jeudy backed up his talk in a huge way with career night in loss to the Broncos

Jerry Jeudy envisioned a big game against his old team and that is exactly what he did on Monday night. Despite the 41-32 loss to the Denver Broncos, Jeudy did more than excel.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver went out and had the best single game of his career against Denver. It was the kind of game that only he could have dreamed about having against the team that traded him fifth and sixth-round picks from the Browns last offseason.

Jeudy’s totaled nine catches, 235 receiving yards, and a touchdown against the Broncos. Jameis Winston just barely missed Jeudy on what could have been a 90-yard touchdown with him streaking down the middle of the field.

Earlier in the week, Jeudy admitted that he wanted to go to Denver and do some damage. Despite the loss, he did just that.

The touchdown for the breakout wide receiver went for 70 yards. Jeudy won against multiple cornerbacks of the Broncos, including perhaps the league’s best Pat Surtain. Coming into the game, Jeudy had 45 catches, 645 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Since trading Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills, it has been nothing short of a breakout for Jeudy.

The Alabama product is on track to go over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. After the Browns traded for Jeudy, they gave him a three-year, $52 million contract extension. At the time it was signed many questioned the deal, now it looks like a steal. Elijah Moore caught eight passes for 111 yards himself, so Jeudy was not the only one feasting against the Denver secondary.

Cleveland’s offense scored north of 30 points and couldn’t ask for anymore. Winston completed 34-of-58 passes for 497 yards and three touchdowns. Winston threw three interceptions one was a game-ending interception that was returned for a touchdown with under two minutes remaining.

The Browns have found themselves a new No. 1 wide receiver for the future and that has been on display since Cooper was traded. It just happened to be against his old team that Jeudy showed the national audience. Cleveland is now 3-9 on the season with the Pittsburgh Steelers up next.
