The Cleveland Browns have a full quarterback room that will be on display this week as the team takes part in mandatory minicamp.
These will be the final days the team spends in Berea until training camp ramps up at the end of July. This week offers a valuable opportunity for the four healthy quarterbacks to get reps, including work in 11-on-11 drills.
Much of the focus will be on the two rookie quarterbacks—particularly Shedeur Sanders, who carries the popularity in the room at this time. The rookie from Colorado has already made a strong impression on first-year offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, with whom he’ll be working closely.
“You know, he’s really putting in a lot of work, like all those guys are,” Rees said last week. “But you can tell on the mental side of the game—learning the system, calling it, getting into a rhythm—he’s invested a lot of time and effort. When you do that, the game starts to slow down, and you can focus on finding completions.”
Sanders, a 6-foot-1 pro-style quarterback, is known for his poise in the pocket and strong accuracy at the collegiate level. If he can translate that skill set to the NFL, he’ll have a real shot at success under head coach Kevin Stefanski.
As a fifth-round pick, Sanders isn’t guaranteed a roster spot—the Browns are not obligated to keep him. His first challenge will be making the 53-man roster before vying for a place on the depth chart. With experienced veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett already in the room, the Browns may lean on that experience early in the season.
That said, recent seasons have shown that the Browns are likely to use multiple quarterbacks. With two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, the team must evaluate what they have in both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. That evaluation process will unfold over the coming year.
