Browns set to begin season with four quarterbacks

A large portion of the NFL offseason has been focused on the Cleveland Browns and their battle between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders for the QB1 role.

That battle has now been won by Watson, and he will be starter in Week 1 for Cleveland with Sanders serving as the backup. There is another element to the Browns QB room, though, that was revealed Sunday during roster cuts.

Cleveland Browns apparently keeping all four QBs on the 53-man roster

According to several reports, it appears that both Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green have made the 53-man roster. That means that Cleveland will be carrying four quarterbacks, a rarity in the NFL.

Many believed that the Browns' final preseason game was the competition for QB3 between Gabriel and Green, but it now appears that was not the case at all.

The Browns clearly believe in their quarterbacks

It is evident that Cleveland believes in all of its young quarterbacks. Otherwise, one of them would've been waived or traded at this point.

That is still a possibility, but for now, the young trio of Sanders, Gabriel and Green are on the Browns roster.

Could one of the young QBs become a trade piece?

The early season production of the veteran Watson will likely determine the direction the Browns front office decides to go with their quarterbacks.

If Watson is struggling, there is a possibility he would be released, making the quarterback situation simple. If Watson has success, though, it could mean that Cleveland decides it does not need to continue to carry four quarterbacks.

The regular season will ultimately determine what happens with what has been one of the most discussed and talked about quarterback rooms in recent memory.
