Browns Star Absolutely Trashes Steelers After Week 4 Win

The Cleveland Browns left Thursday night with a 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and a new line in the AFC North argument.

Browns defensive end Jared Verse, in his first real taste of the rivalry after arriving from the Los Angeles Rams in the Myles Garrett trade, was not interested in treating the result as a polite one.

In the locker room, Verse said the Steelers had spent the night talking, and that he had answered them in kind.

“They were talking crazy. I was telling them, ‘You’re double-teaming, y’all sliding, y’all garbage,’” he told reporters.

He did not name a player or a play. He did not need to. The charge was general, and he left it that way. What he would not leave alone was the way the night ended.

“I don’t got no respect for anybody who plays dirty and does extra [expletive] after the game,” Verse said.

The comment turns a divisional win into something sharper than the score. Cleveland got the points. Verse wanted the record to show that, in his view, Pittsburgh crossed a line once the whistle had already done its work.

Verse is not a lifer in this series. Los Angeles drafted him in the first round in 2024, and he already has two Pro Bowl selections. Last season with the Rams he finished with 58 tackles and a career-high 7.5 sacks.

Through four games in Cleveland he has 10 combined tackles. On Thursday he was credited with two, one of them solo, in a Browns defensive effort that was otherwise enough to hold off the Steelers.

The box score did not match the volume of his postgame remarks, which is part of why they landed. He was not selling a personal sack total. He was selling a grievance.

He also booked the sequel. “It’s going to be a good time when I see them again. I can’t wait to see them again,” Verse said.

The calendar is already set. Cleveland travels to Pittsburgh for the rematch on Sunday, Nov. 1, with kickoff at 1 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium, one month to the day after Thursday’s game began.

A rivalry that usually needs no extra fuel now has a quoted complaint and a fixed date attached to it.

For a defense still sorting out life after Garrett, Verse’s arrival was supposed to be about pressure and production. Thursday added a different job description. He became the voice that refused to let the win sit quietly, accused an old rival of playing dirty, and told Pittsburgh the next meeting would not be a forgettable one.

The Steelers will have four weeks to decide whether that was locker-room heat or the start of something they have to answer on the field.
