We officially have our first trade of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Just hours before the draft kicked off with the Tennessee Titans selecting No. 1 overall, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport announced that a trade was agreed to between the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans.
The Browns own the No. 2 pick in this year's draft. Although they have a need at quarterback, they're expected to use that selection on Colorado star Travis Hunter. If they want to move up later in the draft for a signal-caller, they'll have plenty of ammunition to do just that.
According to Rapoport, the Browns have acquired Houston's Day 3 picks from the fifth (No. 179), sixth (No. 216) and seventh (No. 255) rounds of this year's draft. As part of the deal, the Texans received Cleveland's fifth-rounder from this year (pick No. 166) as well as their fifth-round pick in 2027.
This might seem like a meaningless trade, but this could end up looming large towards the end of the first round.
If we had to guess, this won't be the last trade that goes down this evening.
After the first three picks of this year's draft are made, there should be a ton of movement.
The 2025 NFL Draft will be televised on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.
