Browns trading Mack Wilson to Patriots for Chase Winovich

The Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots are swapping fourth-year linebackers in a reported one-for-one trade.

The deal can't be made official until 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday when the 2022 league year officially begins.

Both players were selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, Winovich in the third round and Wilson in the fifth round. The former has played in 45 career regular-season games with the Patriots and recorded 85 tackles, 23 quarterback hits and 11.0 sacks.

Winovich's best season thus far came in 2020 when he set career highs in tackles (48), quarterback hits (12), sacks (5.5) and passes defended (two), while recording his only career interception and forced fumble as well. He's played 998 career snaps on defense and 601 on special teams.

Wilson has registered 163 tackles and nine passes defended over 43 career regular-season games. As a rookie, he set career-bests in tackles (82) and passes defended (seven), while picking up his only career interception, sack and forced fumble.
