Both the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns are expected to trot out a significant number of starters in their Week 3 preseason finale Saturday night. That’s a joy for football fans eager to see some semblance of real NFL action.
However, the status of Deshaun Watson is a major factor still up in the air 24 hours before kickoff. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said his starting quarterback would play for the first time since last November, but that was before Watson missed practice time this week with arm soreness.
With a significant piece of information for Cleveland’s offense unknown before kickoff, let’s focus on Seattle’s offense vs. Cleveland’s defense. And with all we know so far, fading the Seahawks might be the smart play.
Let's preview the game and dive into my Browns vs. Seahawks prediction.
My Browns vs. Seahawks pick is on Seattle scoring Under 17.5 points, which is available at DraftKings, according to our live NFL odds page.

The spread opened at Seahawks -1.5 but moved across zero to Browns -2.5 on Monday before settling in at its current number. The total moved down just one point after opening at 36.5.
Seattle coach Mike Macdonald told reporters that “you'll see a lot of starters to start the game.” The key words there are “to start the game.”
While the starting defense got at least two series of preseason action so far, this marks the first time Geno Smith and the starting offense will sniff the field. That’s especially noteworthy as it’s the first time we’ll see them in the new Mike Macdonald era.
That’s certainly exciting, but temper those expectations because reports out of the Pacific Northwest is that the Seahawks are expected to keep things vanilla in their final preseason tune-up.
Meanwhile, Cleveland’s defense is ready to rock and roll. There’s a chance the starters will face the Seahawks’ second-and-third string offense for a portion of the game before it turns into backups vs. backups.
So, with that in mind, it’s important to note Seattle’s backups on offense have been dreadful this preseason, averaging just 15.5 points per game while scoring a meager three total touchdowns.

Browns vs. Seahawks Best Bet
Sure, it’s exciting to watch a team’s starting offense. However, if reports are accurate and Seattle is waiting to showcase it’s new-look attack under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, fading them might be the smarter play if we’re desperate for some action.
That's especially the case with such little information known heading into kickoff.
Pick: Seahawks under 17.5 total points
